MOSAIC: Revolutionizing Equitable Heart Care in Canada

How will the study work?

MOSAIC envisages a future where AI is merged with molecular and clinical data to support diagnoses at the bedside. This is an important step forward in making equitable health care universal.

By capturing data from several regions of BC and Yukon, we are building a new dataset that is representative of diverse populations, including Indigenous people and those living in rural communities.

We will use Point of Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) with advanced AI and molecular data to deliver deliver scalable, workflow‑friendly tools that flag treatable heart conditions sooner, and that can ultimately be deployed at point of care.

Key Outcomes

Address Equity Gap in Genomic Risk Tools

Most CVD genetic‑risk scores were built on largely European datasets and aren’t always reflective of other populations like Indigenous and South Asian people. We aim to change that.

Reduce Barriers in Rural & Remote Regions

With earlier disease diagnosis we will address existing scarcity of imaging resources, long travel distances, and limited provider capacity.

Develop Opportunity: Talent + Tech + Commercialization

This work will provide training opportunities at the intersection of AI and clinical medicine. We will bring new skills to Canadians while enhancing care.
