GOVERNANCE

Guided by ethics and community partners to ensure responsible use of data.

Governance

MOSAIC is guided by a structure that makes sure our research is scientifically strong, ethically sound, and shaped by the people it serves. In addition to our day-to-day research team, we have several groups that provide advice and direction:

Steering Committee

This group keeps us on track. It includes MOSAIC’s lead researchers, health leaders from across BC and Yukon, and doctors from different specialties — including family medicine, cardiology, and rural care. Their role is to make sure the study stays focused on the goals that matter most for patients and communities.

Scientific Advisory Committee

This team brings together experts from across Canada and around the world. They are leaders in heart health, genetics, Indigenous health research, artificial intelligence, and care in rural and remote communities. Their job is to make sure we are using the latest science and best methods so MOSAIC delivers results that will make a difference.

Patient Partner Advisory Council (PPAC)

The PPAC makes sure that patients’ voices are heard and that we are working effectively with our partners. Members come from a variety of backgrounds including different cultural communities, life experiences and experiences working within the heart health care space. Members of this committee guide how we implement the study, how we communicate to different communities, and how we protect privacy. They help us make sure that the research reflects what patients, their families and the health care sector truly needs

Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC)

This committee is made up of diverse First Nations, Inuit and Metis individuals from BC and the Yukon. Members may be Indigenous patients, heart and healthcare professionals, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members.

The Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC) plays an essential leadership role in shaping how MOSAIC works with Indigenous communities. They do this by ensuring cultural safety and respect, guiding ethical research practices, shaping how the project works with Indigenous communities, represents lived experience and community voice, and supports continuity and community leadership.

Together, these groups make sure MOSAIC is not just about science — it’s about partnership, respect, and improving heart health for everyone, in every community.
